Awesome post, Ocean.
They are like a bunch of inept Ferengi.
what if you were a member of the gb and you woke up and realized it's all bs.
what would you do?
i would try to change the org from within..
Awesome post, Ocean.
They are like a bunch of inept Ferengi.
but i thought it was very insightful as to the craziness of rutherford.
in these articles, he is interviewed by the san diego sun and time magazine.
i'd like to know what everyone thinks!
Wow, this is an awesome thread!! Bumping.
i posted this 10 years ago.
here is an updated version fresh for the 2012 holidays :.
1. jehovahs witnesses claim to have no clergy and hence are supposed to be totally unlike christendoms' rulers who get special reverence and lord it over their brothers.
Excellent, ty. Marking.
i'm not suicidal just fed up.. i did think of suicide (briefly), but as there is no painless way and it's not something i would willingly do just in case things would have been better the day after.
i do have a slight grain of hope.. money problems.....problems at home (that's another matter with a son up court for something he is adamant he didn't do.
first offence but the pigs police and the cps have got charges made.
Geez, I so know your feelings, PunkOfNice, and all the regrets from living a life of someone else's delusion, which became even their enforced delusion.
It hurts. And it sucks. But today the sun is shining and the snow is melting and the birds are singing happily -- I know it sounds corny, but sometimes it really is the small things.
Whatever happens with your son, he is his own person and adult. All you can do is support him and be there for him. And hopefully the balances in the universe will make it all right for him... and that the justice balance will be in his favour. I don't know what to think about god anymore, so right now things are all about "universal balance" for me. Those thoughts may change as I continue this journey from the cult.
as one of the jw "young ones" i was always expected to witness to my friends at school if i wanted to make god's heart glad or whatever but i didn't.
the closest i ever got was just explaining why we didn't celebrate christmasetc.
even then i was just reciting things i read in publications.. one topic i always tried to avoid talking about was birthdays.
1914 !! Ugh.
h'mmm, it is almost 11:00 am on a wednesday.
i wonder if it is a jw.. to the best of my knowledge the following happened, but i did get a little excited during our intial conversation and what transpired later so i may not be recounting the facts correctly.. i went downstairs with my trusty sharpie in my pocket to answer the door.
at the door there was an older (~75 year-old) man in a suit and appeared to be in good health.
Fleaman, agree with you. I know an art student who collects the annual Memorial invitations (he finds them really amusing!)
i wanted to give this very public shout-out and congratulations to alltimejeff, who i have come to find out had turned in his letter of da, twice, then was read out at the meeting recently.
for those not knowing, atf was a 2005 gilead graduate, bethelite, missionary.
they mean the leadership.
..... marking, ty
well my wife asked me loint blank..."do you wanna be a witness anymore?
" and i told her no.. .
we then went into 1914 and shunning and 1975 and she said sheswondered many times about it.. anyways she said "so what do we do now?
This is a new stage for both of you... She may need to take some time and think through some of this before making a decision. There is no rush. Let her absorb what it would mean, fade vs DA and consequences thereof.
according to wt tamud, if a jw does in-vitro fertilization, carries a surrogate child, uses a surrogate, and so forth then it is "por-neia".. the bible says that mary was a virgin when implanted with the embryo of jesus christ.
under the mosaic law adultery was punishable by death.
since mary was already engaged to joseph, if she was to sleep with another man it was the same as adultery in the eyes of the law.
Bwhaha! I love posts like these. This I something I'd never thought about before, but what a good point!!
has anyone here seen best picture winner 12 years a slave?
it was tough to watch at times, and made me tear up a couple times.
it was a very well written well acted film with great cinematography, and was extremely moving.. i think it was a deserving winner..
I haven't seen it yet, but how does it differ or compare to Roots?
